LOOK WHOS TALKIN'....
This post of mine might be out of your depth but I guess quite relevant to…hmm…atleast myself for sure. I was passing by the Vidhan Soudha and was just gawking at the new block pointlessly. Suddenly, I observed something that I had never noticed earlier (calm down, it may not be something new!!). The façade of the gigantic building had these words engraved in bold letters:
GOVERNMENT WORK IS GOD’S WORK
I read it once, twice and once more….well, I still could not make anything out of it. Firstly, I see no parameter by which gods work and governments work could be weighed and measured. Or is it just that at present times with all the corruption, bribery, lies and other possibly worst attributes that is related to the government (thanks to the politicians) that I fail to make any sense out of the statement?
More importantly, is it relevant and morally correct that such a statement be made to define the work that the government is doing today??
However, I certainly need to understand the meaning first…any help??

Won't be able to understand the meaning, because it is meaningless... lol.

What plagues most government offices is lack of accountability. And accountability is what distinguishes pvt offices. Went to the Provident Fund Office a couple of days back... Pits, to say the least.

I say most because, look at LIC, it's govt owned, but very efficient. Look at State Bank of India, it is govt owned. It's India's largest bank, highly modernised; it's internet banking is one of the most secure, and it is also acquiring foreign banks. Both had to pull up their socks because of competition: it's either swim or sink... no floating around.

Earlier I used to detest everything; but today I try to make a distinction.

Poornima, thanks a lot for reading my blog regularly and for the comments.

it is the height of hypocricy, well beyond heights. that wouldnt be exact because they dont even try to hide how they misuse their office. we know it when we vote and they know it when they win. talk about covering things up in paper work. another way of looking at it... we dont question god's work, do we? i dont know if they intended the irony when they put it up, but isnt it like the government is trying to tell us that we have no right to question them? I wonder what the framers of democracy would have to say to this.
